Viv Wilson

Viv Wilson, an Exeter girl, started to gather old photographs of Teignmouth, south Devon in 1986 for use in public slide shows. A local publisher invited her to create a small book of images in 1992 (From Teignmouth With Love) and next came the story of the famous shipwreck and its treasures just off the coast. The up-to-date version of it is Viv's most recent book making a total of 13. She gathered a strong following from her work as a columnist for two local newspapers for 28 years, merging local news with re-telling happenings of the past. She prides herself on maintaining grass root levels and engaging especially with the elderly population face-to-face to gather social history through their memories. Viv continues to present slide shows merged with movie clips in the resort where she also enjoyed 40 years in amateur theatre as a performer and Musical Director. Teignmouth seems to have adopted this "Incomer" as one of their own. She says that if a local man calls you "Maid" then you are accepted!
