Jin Ouk Choi

Dr. Jin Ouk Choi is an Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Construction at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He received his M.S.E. and Ph.D. in Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.S.E. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Korea University. Dr. Choi has extensive research and industry experience in Construction Engineering and Management, Modularization, Facility Standardization, and Diversity and Inclusion in Construction Workforce. Since starting at UNLV in August 2016, he has secured $3.5M from reputable funding agencies such as the National Science Foundation, Construction Industry Institute, Department of Energy, Tesla, and USDOT-UTC. Dr. Choi has published over 80 journal papers, conference papers, technical reports, and tools. He is an associate editor of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)’s Journal of Management in Engineering (JME) and the International Journal of Industrialized Construction. He is also the lead guest editor of ASCE JME’s Special collections on Modularization and Standardization Strategies in the Construction Industry and Diversity and Inclusion in the Engineering-Construction Industry. Dr. Choi is one of the authors of the book, “Modularization: The Fine Art of Offsite Preassembly for Capital Projects.”
