RA Cook

RA (Rebecca) Cook, author, illustrator and imagineer heads up HMA Publishing, publisher of CALVIN SPLINTER & HIS SPLENDID SPLINTER IDEAS. The company also puts out Becca's Blog, podcasts, a variety of other author’s books plus, two popular whimsical card lines: the NISSER/gnome and FAIR series. GIGANTA, An Epic Tale, a middle-grade chapter book was released in 2021 to local acclaim. In 2022, RA Cook published a “long” short story entitled LOLA’S MUSE. Look for GOING OUT THE IN ROAD, a fascinating, magical realism novel coming out in 2023.

Cook, a graduate of the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA, formed the organization to house her creative work. “These whimsical creations need a place to live outside my head so I formed HMA. The initials stand for the first letter of each of my grandsons’ name: Haakon, Marius and Anders.”

“Since they were tiny children, my grandsons have been beta listeners/readers, colorers and critquers of Grandma’s stories. Bless those boys. They are my best and worst critics.”

RA Cook lives on an island in the Pacific Northwest. She spends every day creating: writing, sketching, illustrating, narrating her stories, working in her garden and walking the beach for inspiration. When asked what makes her happy she says, “my stories, illustrations, bountiful garden—and family.” Sighing, she turns looks out over the green waters of Puget Sound.“Oops! And my special friend, Stuart. He makes me happy. Life wouldn’t be right without my dog.”
