Brett Larsen

Brett Gnome King Larsen is the founder and Gnomean Elder of the Church of Gnome, a spiritual community whose invitation is simple: Live Like Gnomes.

His writing explores how kindness, individuality, humor, and reverence can become a lived spiritual practice. Through the Church’s Book of Proverbs and The Gnomean Book of Rituals, he brings together teachings, reflections, blessings, and ceremonies for everyday life and its deepest thresholds.

At the heart of the Gnomean Way is the Sacredness of Maybe: room for literal belief, symbolic understanding, and honest uncertainty. His books welcome readers who find meaning in nature, elemental beings, and the unseen, as well as those drawn to the practical work of tending a home, caring for others, honoring grief, and becoming a better neighbor.

Holding the profound and the absurd together, Brett’s work invites readers to take kindness seriously while leaving room for laughter. A pointed hat and a meaningful spiritual life can belong in the same story.

Beyond his books, Brett creates music as Gnome King and has a longstanding interest in folklore, cryptids, and unexplained encounters. He lives in Bellingham, Washington, with his wife and three children. His dog Phantom serves as the Church’s Grand Paw.

And yes, Gnome King really is his legal middle name.
