Rekha Mistry

Rekha Mistry is the driving force behind all that she does. She ticks off her successful careers like she’s racing through a bucket list – never content to say “that will do”. She made her dream a career in horticulture by training with the Royal Horticultural Society and working as a professional gardener in a prestigious garden in London. Unbeknown to her, this paved the way for much more than gardening. Her personality, her work and her passionate green fingers brought her out into the media spotlight where we see her today.

Because of her detailed knowledge in horticulture, especially kitchen gardening, she contributes regularly to numerous magazines including, BBC Gardeners World, RHS The Garden, Grow Your Own and she has over 100K followers on Instagram. She first appeared on screen on BBC Big Allotment Challenge in 2015 and the garden media seed was sown. Now, Rekha has become one of the regular presenters on BBC Gardeners World.

In her debut book, Rekha’s Kitchen Garden, Rekha shares her knowledge of growing sustainably, organically but above all how to grow and eat seasonally. She began her journey as a novice, noting down her successful vegetables and ones that gave her sleepless nights! Her need to learn and voice her knowledge has led her to become a member of the RHS Plant Committee and as a passionate heritage seed guardian, she has become an ambassador for Garden Organics - Heritage Seed Library too.

Rekha’s Kitchen Garden may be her first book, but we don’t think it will be her last.
