I came to the U.S. when I was 23 from Scotland. I have lived in Maine since then. I am 73yrs. old married, and live with my husband Alan and Andy in a small town in the lake district 15 miles from city of Portland. I have adult children and 7 wonderful grandchildren ranging from 10 to 19 years. I retired in September 2016 from Mercy hospital after 24 years of service as a unit coordinator. One month later I was in a car accident. My car was totaled and I suffered a traumatic brain injury and PTSD from the accident. My memory, motor skills speech, ability to spell do simple math eyesight and balance were effected. My life completely changed. I rehabilitated for 10 months for all of these devastating symptoms. It has been an uphill battle and I have fought it. I adopted Andy in August of 2018. It was love at first sight. He changed my life. He loved me unconditionally cuddled with me when I was sad made me smile when I could not. He filled lonely hours with his antics and followed me from room to room. When I had a spell, my husband called them, he stayed with me until it was over. He became my therapy cat and best friend. I started writing about his kitten days and his reactions to all the firsts he experienced in his surroundings and daily life. How very curious he was and his love for people and their love for him. Soon I found that the words flowed and I was writing this book with paper and pencil. I still can't explain how it happened. I taught myself how to use a lap top to write my manuscript. Being able to write has been a gift and Andy is my inspiration.
