Mali Bain

Hi! My name is Mali. I am a former high school teacher with a background working in university, non-profit, and philanthropic settings. I'm a family historian, facilitator, and certified Guided Autobiography instructor. I hold a B.A. (UBC), B.Ed. (SFU), and an M.A. in Adult Learning and Education (UBC).

​I am the founder of NextGen Story: Custom Publishing many years ago. It all started when I helped my grandmother publish her memoirs. She had typewritten stories and old albums of photos. I worked with her to type, scan, organize, edit, design, and eventually publish a family history book. She was so proud of her book, and it has meant so much to our family.

Since then, I've written a few of my own books. What began as a chapter in my master’s thesis ended up being a five-year journey to extensively research my own family history and connections to colonization in Canada (Our Homes on Indigenous Lands).

I have had the honour to work with and support many authors and family history writers to make the book they dream of become a reality. I would love to hear more about the books you envision in this world...!
