Thomas N. Thrasher

Thomas Newton Thrasher was born in Decatur, Alabama on April 28, 1948, to Newton and Betty Thrasher, the oldest of their four sons (Tommy, Danny, David, and Bill). He grew up in Hartselle and graduated with honors from Morgan County High School in 1966, and subsequently completed courses in several post-secondary institutions, including the University of Alabama (BS in Mathematics, 1970; EdS in Educational Leadership, 2005; EdD in Instructional Leadership, 2007), Alabama A & M University (MEd, 1974), the University of Alabama in Huntsville (Criminology, education), Athens State University (Special Education), International Bible College (Greek, Hebrew), University of West Alabama (graduate mathematics), University of North Alabama (graduate mathematics, secondary education), Newburgh Theological Seminary (PhD in Christian Apologetics, 2015; ThD in Theology, 2019), and Morling College (New Testament Greek). His most recent dissertation was The Book of Revelation: Arguments for the Late Date, which is being prepared for publication in book form in 2023. He was a professional educator for 49 years, serving as a secondary school mathematics teacher. elementary school administrator, college instructor, and university professor before retiring in May 2022. For many of those years he coached secondary school Mathematics Teams, two of which won national championships (1978 and 1979). He has done evangelistic work for more than 56 years, including presentation of more than 12,000 lessons, conducting 110 formal debates in 15 states (17 of which have been published in book form), serving as a moderator in numerous debates in the United States and Australia, authoring/coauthoring more than 25 books, serving as editor for two religious periodicals (Seeking Truth and Gospel Defender), and writing numerous articles for these and other religious periodicals (and several articles in educational and mathematics journals). He has preached in 20 states and Australia. In June 1971 Miss Jerretta Barber became my life partner. They have been married for more than 51 years and have one son, Tommy, and two grown grandsons, Andrew and Luke. Jerretta has been a wonderful companion, faithful encourager, and dedicated Christian. Her support has been essential to any success he may have been blessed to have in life. With his health issues during recent years, she has fully devoted herself to the role of helper and caregiver.
