By the grace of God, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the atoning work of Christ at Calvary, Stanford E. Murrell was converted at an early age. From his youth, Stan sensed a call to preach the gospel. He made his first attempt at the age of 14 at the Gospel Rescue Mission in Dallas, Texas. In 1970, at the age of 15 he was licensed to preach by the Coliseum Place Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana, affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. In 1980, he was formally ordained by Calvary Bible Church, Rogers, Arkansas.
In June, 1972, after being graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas, Texas, Stan entered the U.S. Army to serve as a Chaplain's Assistant. Following three years of active duty, he attended Ft. Hays State University in Hays, Kansas where he received a teaching degree in secondary education, majoring in history.
During his years in college, Stan was the pastor of a rural church in Mankato, Kansas where he met, and married, the former Marta L. Leonard. They have two children and seven grandchildren.
Stan has been awarded a B.A. and an M.A. in History from Ft. Hays State University, Hays, Kansas, and a M. Div. and Th.D. from Trinity Theological Seminary, Newburgh, Indiana.
He is the author of more than fifty books including The Most Glorious Institution: The Church in History (2 Vols.), and A New Covenant in Christ: A Survey of the New Testament, published by Chapel Library Ministries in Pensacola, FL
