Sigrid Wharton is an Australian artist, photographer, and poet.
She grew up hearing the word Sowelu—her family's word for love, for warmth, for the feeling of being held when everything else falls apart. It became the name of her studio and the heart of everything she makes.
Sigrid has been painting since childhood. In her early twenties, severe anxiety and panic attacks changed everything—and art became the way through. She started writing poetry when paint alone couldn't hold what she needed to say.
She holds a Fine Arts Diploma and a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and Visual Culture. She has run Sowelu Studios for over a decade, creating oil paintings of wild women, quiet watercolour hauntings, and poetry for the ones who feel too much.
She is the author of three collections: Carving The Path, Nectar Flow, and Botanical Bones—each one written for the person holding everything alone, needing proof that someone else survived this too.
