I hope you don’t wait until you are sick and tired of being sick and tired to do something about a growing problem.
I may look like a stereotypical health practitioner, mom, and stand-up human being but I have not always been that way.
I’m a work in progress, like most of us. Currently, I’m a six-figure business owner, in recovery from addiction, a felon (yup I was in prison), not so maternal single mom (hardest job ever), and a health practitioner who wants to help others learn how to be proactive about self-care and optimize their health.
Clearly, I have so much I could tell you about my life experiences, but I want to focus on one topic that a lot of us take for granted until we are at an all-time bottom. Yes, that would be our health. I know as a mom, business owner, and health practitioner it can almost feel selfish to do a little self-care even though I know it makes me better at all the other things in my life. I am sure you too can relate. Those inner voices telling me “I need to spend that money on my kid.” “I should put that money back into the business.” “I don’t have the time to do all the things to take care of myself how I should so why bother.” I have tried to do all the right things, and never got results.”
I spent a large majority of my life feeling horrible. I suffered from severe stomach problems, hormone problems, inability to lose weight, horrible allergies, brain fog, constipation and chronic fatigue. This was when I was in high school and went on into my adult life. I would have small bouts of feeling better, but nothing was ever resolved. Doctors would say I was fine and that my labs looked normal and then hand out medicine like candy.
This became the new normal and I just decided I would always struggle and feel like I was in someone else’s skin the rest of my life. I always felt very self-defeated because no matter how clean or how much I exercised nothing every changed.
In 2010 I got certified to become a personal trainer and nutritionist. I had a booming 6 fig business within one year and everything was going really well except for my health. I was getting sicker by the day, and I was going all the things I learned becoming a trainer. Then I noticed a lot of my female clients esp. were having similar problems and I knew they weren’t bullshitting me w lies when it came to food logs etc. I was talking to another trainer one day who even tried to train me to see if he could help and he said you know I just learned about this Functional Lab testing in a course I took maybe you should explore that avenue. OMG, little did I know this would be a miracle moment for me in my life.
My guess is you can probably relate to “doing all the right things” and getting zero results. Maybe you can relate to having hormone imbalances, or knowing that your adrenals are shot, and let’s not even get started on your gut!
