Giancarlo Boeri

Giancarlo Boeri (Sanremo 1944). Graduated in Physics, since childhood he has dedicated himself to studying the history and military iconography of the 17th - 19th centuries. Over time, he has delved into all aspects of the armies of the Italian pre-unification states, the Spanish and French armies, and other Western European states of the 17th and 18th centuries,

so much so that he has become a point of reference for scholars of this subject. He has written numerous articles and books, alone and in with other authors in Italy and abroad, including a series of volumes on the Bourbon’s army of the Kingdom of Naples from the French Revolution to the end (1789-1861), published by the Historical Office of the Italian Army General Staff.

He has also published several works on the uniforms of the Navies of the pre-unitary Italian states; with Robert Hall various titles on the Armies of the Great Alliance and Spanish Succession War, particularly the French Army. Most recent titles are upon the battle of Velletri (1745) and currently a series of monographies upon the Armies operating in Italy in the years 1708-1737.
