As a child , feeling different, I was withdrawn from the world and Living in my own world. Growing up in Miami Florida, I found music as my first passion and escape from reality. Singing was my life growing up. After being a vocal performance major for one year in college , the competition was tough and i was burning out. I received a masters degree in early childhood education in 1989 from Florida state university. I currently teach pre-K special needs in an elementary school in west palm beach Florida. I sing and play the guitar daily with my students, using it to help their language development as well as to bring a happy energy to the classroom. My other most favorite thing about being in the classroom is reading good children’s literature with vibrant illustrations to my students.

I started painting when I was 46 . I had suffered some trauma throughout my life, and discovered painting as a therapy. I walked into an art gallery one day and didn’t want to leave. I quickly found an art studio a couple of days later and started to paint surrounded by artists. I had never painted before but I became obsessed and painted 6-8 hours a day. I painted mostly palm trees and then became interested in faces. I knew I wanted to write a book about someone or something that was lonely. Later, when I became more experienced with painting I started painting mermaids . With a love for painting and literature, combined with life experiences my book emerged . In addition to teaching pre-K, . I am proud to have my art in Artlantic art gallery in Jupiter Florida. I have a son who is in college who can tell you about my singing and art more than anyone since he was immersed in it daily. Although he was never became an artist, , he has a bright future ahead of him studying hard and using his own gifts to touch the world as he has touched me. I hope this book brings the message that our differences are what makes the world go around .
