Bridget Ashton

Bridget is an explorer, writer, mother and photographer. Hay Girl is her new trilogy: she is The Girl from the Book Festival Town, Hay-on-Wye, famous for its second-hand bookshops and international book festival. Her new trilogy is modelled on two of her beloved writers. “Like Laurie Lee’s Cider with Rosie trilogy, and Flora Thompson’s Lark Rise to Candleford, my trilogy starts out with a country child who gradually ventures out into the wider world. He went off to Franco’s Spain, as friends and I did. Later I travelled alone behind the Iron Curtain. Like Flora Thompson, I was often an insecure young woman in unfamiliar places.”
