Patrick Dougherty

I am Pat Dougherty Doctor of Chiropractic. I’ve been a holistic chiropractor since 1994 and practiced in Spokane since 2005.

My mission is education. I want to live to see the world change from a sick care society to a wellness society. My website has an extensive library of health-related articles I’ve written, and interviews. I currently have three published books: Medical Intuition & Muscle Testing; Quantum Energy: The Synthesis of Chiropractic and Reiki; and Do You Wanna Get Better? The Future of Health Care. Each of these books is an effort to educate the public to the importance of living a healthier lifestyle. Holistic Chiropractic is part of that lifestyle. My job is to help people rehabilitate their nervous system and restore their innate healing ability. I study the nervous system and how to help it become more efficient in the task of healing.

I have lived in Spokane WA since 2004. Before that I practiced chiropractic for 10 years in Denver. My partner, Sheila, and I are guinea pigs for a wellness lifestyle. We study nutrition, cooking, exercise techniques, science of the mind and more in efforts to enhance our lives. What we learn is passed on to you. We garden in the hopes of having healthier foods to eat. I love my job and it is my goal and expectation to practice chiropractic until I am 80. That would be 2032. With the help of people like you I will get there.

Even before I entered Chiropractic school in 1989 I had a thirst for knowledge of holistic healing modalities. This developed in my early 20's after several years of being on an antibiotic merry-go-round for colds, flus, sinus infections and chronic bronchitis. Jethro Kloss' Back to Eden was the first holistic health book I read. The Web That Has No Weaver by Kaptchuk was the book that initiated my uncompromised entry to the holistic health field. Lifestyle changes and an Oriental Medicine Doctor got me off the medication merry-go-round. As I got healthier I was able to enjoy participating in sports again, and continue my quest for knowledge.

In my early 30's I realized I needed a better profession than volleyball bum/amateur construction person. That was when I decided to become a chiropractor. Ten years later that goal was accomplished. Being a chiropractor influenced me to write books. People need catalysts to move them toward better lifestyles. My initial catalysts were books, and I hope that my books can be catalysts for others.
