Jay L. MacDonald

Jay L. MacDonald is a former award-winning United Press International wire service reporter who checked out of the news mainstream and into the heady world of "Key Weird" to pursue fiction. He lived in a lively Cuban neighborhood, worked days as a hired worker, and spent nights writing in Key West's most notorious watering holes. Since 2000, he has served as an online freelance feature writer and author interviewer for popular dot-coms Bankrate, BookPage, CreditCards and Montana Press, as well as the Sunday Books Editor for the Fort Myers (Fla.) News-Press daily newspaper, which spawned his Austin Macauley nonfiction debut, “Crazy from the Heat: Fun in the Sun with 35 Florida Authors.” His work has been widely honored with awards from the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), Forbes Best of Web, the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) and the Music City News Songwriting Competition. Jay and his wife Kate make their home in Florida.
