Pat F. Mitchell

Pat F. Mitchell is the founder of Auntie Litter, Inc., a national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing environmental education to the general public, particularly children. To spread her message about protecting the environment, she portrayed the character of Auntie Litter to “do for the environment what Uncle Sam has done for patriotism.” Under her leadership, numerous programs and materials have been developed which gained national recognition: President George H. Bush Take Pride in America Award, Daughters of the American Revolution Conservation Award, Girl Scouts of America Woman of Distinction Award, President Bill Clinton Point of Light and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Clean Air Excellence Award for Education and Outreach. The Auntie Litter Campaign was covered by many media outlets, including CNN Headline News, ABC News, Channel One In-School Programming, USA Today, Family Circle, Weekly Reader, Healthy Choice, Recycling Today, Waste Age, Woman’s World, and Country America.
