I am a parent, professor, and anthropologist who explores the human experience at the intersection of environmental justice and disability rights. My writing has appeared in numerous scholarly journals as well as public outlets such as Sapiens Magazine (sapiens.org). The seed for my book An Ordinary Future was an article published in Sapiens Magazine titled "A Daughter's Disability and a Father's Awakening" (1/10/19), chosen as one of the best articles of 2019 and featured in the Sapiens podcast episode "What to Expect When You're Not Expecting Down Syndrome" (S2 E3, 8/27/19, sapiens.org/biology/down-syndrome-podcast). I live with my partner and three children in Wisconsin, where we snow shoe in the winter and ride bikes all summer, but I still call Chicago home. Learn more about my work at thomaswpearson.org.
