It was written in the stars that Kate Davis would one day bring Greater Manchester’s textiles heritage back to life through her literature.
The genealogy student, who also holds a qualification in archaeology, spends much of her working life within one of the Victorian mills which brought prosperity and jobs to the north-west.
Kate, who writes as C E Davis, released the first part of a planned four-book series, centred around an enchanted mill, in early 2023.
Having grown up one the edge of the Pennines, the mother-of-two has lived and breathed Lancashire / West Yorkshire industrial heritage.
Inspired by authors such as Jane Austen, T J Green and Iris Beaglehole, Kate has perfected a masterful storyteller style of her own.
Her debut, Murder at the Mill, weaves the region’s folklore and history into a gripping narrative where the past and present meet with amusing consequences.
Prior to working as an accounts manager for a local textiles firm, Kate spent 25 years working with her own family’s haulage company.
As well as now writing novels, Kate keeps her growing fanbase entertained through her website - www.cedavis-author.com – and social media platforms.
