Bernadette Ambo-Vidal

Bernadette Ambo-Vidal is a creative, passionate and talented individual who began her career journey as an elementary school teacher, in the Commonwealth of Dominica, in 1995. Throughout her 26 years in the teaching service, Bernadette taught at three different schools, and also extended her services as a tutor to students who required remedial or additional assistance in the subjects of mathematics and English language arts. Her desire to understand and assist struggling learners in the area of literacy prompted her to pursue a bachelor's degree in Language Education-Literacy Studies from the University of the West Indies, where she graduated with First Class Honours.

In 2021, Bernadette began her journey as a freelancer, and she has since earned a certificate in teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL). To date, she has self-published five children's books on Amazon KDP. She is also the author of the 68 stories in the C-DER (Cheetah Decodable Early Readers) series, a project she undertook as a contracted independent author and literacy specialist for CHEETAH Toys & More, LLC. Bernadette currently freelances as a creative writer, English tutor, proofreader, editor and an education consultant.

Bernadette's love for music and passion for writing have always been an integral part of her teaching. Over the years, she has written songs, jingles, poems and short stories to teach various concepts to her students or simply to entertain or express her innermost thoughts. In 2019, she began a young writer's club which nurtures the writing abilities of children from Second Grade to Fifth Grade. As the choir director at the different schools where she taught, she used her talents to nurture young students in singing. Bernadette is a member of her church choir, and she uses her gift to make 'joyful noise' whenever a worthy opportunity arises.

In her homeland, Dominica, Bernadette enjoys nature-living. She resides in the beautiful western village of Salisbury with her husband and three lovely children. It has always been her dream to use her passion for writing to create stories that the world, especially children, can enjoy.
