Merle Kindred

The US Virgin Islands, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Guyana, and India—all are former colonial regions. Merle Kindred has now trod with sand in her sandals tackling challenging international development postings for six decades. Catapulting herself around the Global South, she is a veteran of absorbing and sharing the value of cross-cultural exchanges.

A skilled storyteller with a distinctive voice, she has made extensive use of her training in the liberal arts, administration, and technical communication. Tapping into her treasure chest of skills and involvements, she has listened and learned, savored and shared. Kindred has also presented and published internationally on her experiences.

Her final two postings in India and Guyana spanned fourteen years and probed each country’s amazing histories and challenges with post-colonial life. Kindred’s books will appeal to those considering such immersive challenges as well as those wanting a good read about unusual and extended involvements abroad.
