Alberto Danese

Alberto Danese is the Head of Data Science at Nexi, the European PayTech, and a Competitions Grandmaster on Kaggle, Google’s platform for machine learning and AI.

Trained as a computer engineer, he has more than 15 years of experience in the financial sector - spanning banking, credit information, and digital payments - always with a single goal: turning data into value through advanced algorithms and technological innovation. Today he leads a team of data scientists and data engineers responsible for the end-to-end development of machine-learning and AI-based solutions.

His passion for these fields goes beyond the strictly professional sphere: he is one of only 300 Kaggle Grandmasters worldwide (and one of just two in Italy), where he competed in developing machine-learning and AI algorithms in a competitive setting.

He enjoys speaking about these topics to varied audiences: technical ones at events such as AWS re:Invent, Codemotion, and PyCon, and managerial ones through collaborations with the GSOM of Politecnico di Milano and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. He writes regularly on his blog “All About Data” and, in 2022, authored the book "La Cultura del Dato" ("Data Culture").
