Sandy Kubillus

"Shaken" is my first published personal essay. It's about my experience as a 7-year-old during a tornado. "The Mushroom House" will be published soon in Meaningful Conflicts. It's about my mom's quiet defiance while she painted a mural on our kitchen wall, and how it affected me decades later. Other personal essays include: "Kaylee's Fall" published as a Tiny Dog Story by Modern Dog Magazine in the winter of 2022, "Kaylee & Willie, an unusual Friendship and "A Water Dog is Born" were both published in Ruff Drafts by the Dog Writer's Association of America in 2022. My memoir, My Broken Dog," about how a Springer Spaniel affected me and my relationship with my husband will be published soon.

I also have a website with an occasional blog involving dogs at sandykubillus.com.

I work as an environmental consultant specializing in lakes and wetlands, and also teach environmental classes at the local community college. Dogs are my favorite topic to write about and discuss. I plan to write children's picture books about my blind Cocker Spaniel in the future.
