A native of Mesquite, TX, David McDonald has been recognized as an awarded educator, unapologetic community advocate, and an impactful social entrepreneur. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with dual degrees in Applied Learning & Development and African & African American Studies. He received his Masters of Education in Teaching & Learning from Southern Methodist University specializing in Gifted & Talented Instruction for culturally diverse learners. He is now the Founder and managing partner of Education PowerED and leverages his influence across organizations such as the NAACP, National Urban League, Black Chamber of Commerce and more.
His accomplishments have continued throughout his career as he has been recognized by Dallas ISD's Billy Earl Dade Middle School, Desoto ISD Board of Trustees, and Horace Mann for his teaching excellence. David has been featured in Aljazeera, Los Angeles Times, The Daily Texan, University Business, USA Today and other local publications. David has led leadership sessions across various industries, ranging in size from five to 2,000.
At his core, David is a servant leader. He has used his influence to advocate for policies centered on equity and secured over $120,000 to support education inclusion efforts for students of color. He has been recognized for his efforts to improve the quality of education in the city of Dallas by supporting initiatives such as Dallas Kids First, Stand For Children, and Minority Student Recruitment at The University of Texas.
