James Boggs

I was born and grew up in Dayton Ohio but attended the Virginia Military Institute to prepare for an Army career. I started by studying Electrical Engineering, switched to English, studied at Hamma School of Theology (Wittenberg University), and I was torn between being ordained or applying both scripture and engineering in the world. I chose to live my faith as a layperson and I accepted a regular commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers in 1969. Engineering grew in importance after moving to the Army Reserve in 1980 and I completed a bachelor's in Engineering, and then master's degrees in Systems Management and Information Architecture before completing a doctorate in Information Systems. Throughout 27 years in uniform I studied and taught the Bible; read more about the US Constitution and the supporting 17th and 18th century writings; and was blessed to have a great family. I enjoyed teaching and mentoring as an adjunct college professor in Information Technology for 20 years. My interest in the U.S. Constitution and in the crucial application of Christianity to American life are reflected in Reviving Our Republic: Asking God to Help. Ideas on specific societal issues identified in this first book may grow to follow-on books.
