Renee Hodges

Born in Illinois, raised in Mississippi, transplanted to North Carolina, Renee loves the best of the South--sweet potato pie, magnolia trees, sassiness, and people who are generous, kind, and witty. In 2016, she made a friend in the waiting room of a radiation clinic during a skirmish with breast cancer who inspired her to write a short story. That process (and winning a first-place award for the story at the North Carolina Christian Writers Conference) inspired her to dust off a novel she began years earlier.

With her three children out of the nest, she’s concentrated on completing her first two novels, Ona Mae’s Deli and Bait Shop and Caragin Farm. For down time, she and her husband enjoy serving in their local church, traveling, having friends over, and hanging out in their easy pants watching cop shows and cooking competitions.

Renee believes that all people have intrinsic value because they are made in the image of God. In her writing, you'll meet characters who are real--flawed and fabulous--people searching for truth, acceptance, love, mercy, and grace.
