I fell in love with reading as a kid. Life wasn’t always easy, and books became what I call The Great Escape. They gave me peace. They gave me wonder. They made me feel emotions I had never felt before and transported me to worlds I needed.

It all started with J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.

As I got older, I lost touch with books. Then one teacher changed everything. My high school Shakespeare teacher reignited something inside me. I didn’t just fall back in love with reading. I fell in love with writing.

I wanted to give others the same gift books had given me. The Great Escape. A chance to feel something. A chance to escape for a little while. A chance to see the world through someone else’s eyes.

Today, I am an early childhood educator and an indie author. I write memoirs, historical fiction, children’s books, and nonfiction. Whether I’m sharing my own experiences or creating unforgettable characters, every story begins with the same goal. To make readers laugh, cry, think, hope, or simply forget the world for a little while.

There is nothing more rewarding than hearing from a reader who says one of my books stayed with them after they turned the final page. Those moments remind me why I started writing in the first place.
