I received my PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and now work as a Professor of Philosophy in the Humanities Department at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez. My work bridges the areas of bio/ethical theory and feminism(s), and my research interests include philosophy of birth, cetacean ethics, and bio/“enhancements”. I have created courses on philosophy of birth, feminist reproductive ethics, feminist ethics, and animal ethics. My philosophical passions involve thinking about superpowers we currently have, such as the ability to create life by gestating and birthing, and the superpowers we might have through biotechnology, such as the ability to breathe underwater. I am also a mother (home-birther), a world traveler, a writer, and a seeker of adventures. I spend a fair amount of my life at the beach.
