Stephen C. Pollock ("Steve") is the author of the poetry collection Exits, winner of an unprecedented 41 national and international book awards. The twenty-two poems in Exits were written and edited over a period of twenty-two years.
Trained as a physician, eye surgeon, and neuro-ophthalmologist, Steve was recruited to Duke University as Chief of Neuro-Ophthalmology in 1987. After seventeen years in academic medicine, he left Duke to become chief executive of CEC, a nationwide company that provides individuals and their families with voluntary vision benefits. He currently lives in North Carolina with his wife of 34 years; writes poems, essays, and scientific articles; and still mourns the loss of his beloved yorkipoo Dinky, who passed away in 2012.
