MACUEI YOL

Macuei Y. Yol is a South Sudanese-Australian writer, cultural storyteller, and independent author dedicated to preserving language, heritage, memory, and identity through literature. His work moves across culture, poetry, grammar, and fiction, with a strong focus on the emotional, historical, and linguistic worlds carried by South Sudanese and diaspora communities.

He is the author of Riin Jieng: A Collection of 100 Jieng Baby Names, a practical and culturally respectful guide for new parents, families, and language enthusiasts; Gaatku Thuongmuɔnyjang: Modern Jieng Grammar First Edition, a foundational work supporting the study and preservation of modern Jieng language; Life Is a Cycle: A Collection of Poems, a reflective poetry collection exploring grief, love, memory, homeland, healing, and return; and ENDLESS I: First Love, Meet and Revelation, a coming-of-age novel centred on family, identity, first love, and the emotional lives of South Sudanese-Australian youth in Melbourne’s west.
