Kate Mageau

Kate Mageau (she/her), LMHC, NCC, is a licensed mental health counselor and nationally certified counselor who has dedicated her career to helping survivors of toxic relationships reclaim their sense of safety, trust, and self-worth. With both professional expertise and personal understanding of emotional abuse, Kate offers survivors a space where they can feel seen, heard, and deeply supported.

In her private practice, she works with individuals navigating the aftermath of harmful relationships, providing trauma-informed care that focuses on rebuilding identity and confidence. She also teaches other therapists how to recognize and treat emotional abuse, ensuring that more survivors have access to truly informed, compassionate support.

Kate believes that emotional safety is a basic human right, and that healing is always possible, no matter how confusing or painful the past has been. Her mission is to shed light on hidden dynamics of relational harm, break cycles of silence and self-blame, and help survivors step into freedom and self-trust again.

Outside of her therapy work, Kate enjoys reading, writing, crocheting, and yoga. She lives with her partner—happily nothing like her ex—and their beloved cat, Penelope. Through her writing, teaching, and therapy practice, Kate hopes to change the way we understand toxic relationships, making healing not just possible but accessible to everyone who needs it.
