D.D. Holland

D. D. Holland is a novelist, poet, short story, script and essay writer based in Gloucestershire. Although initially planning for a career in Forensic Archaeology, D soon recognised that writing was a much more efficient way of communicating with the dead.

D holds a 1st class degree in Creative and Professional Writing and English Literature from the University of Worcester, (but doesn't like to brag). It is at Worcester that D was introduced to Slam and Spoken Word poetry, and had the great honour of being a semi-finalist at UNISLAM 2019. This sparked a deep fascination with ancient spoken word poetics, which D is passionate about reviving. D is now studying for an MA in Creative Writing at the University of Chichester.

D is the winner of the V-Press Prize for Poetry and the Black Pear Press Prize for Fiction in 2022, and has won several first place medals at The Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts both for written and performed poetry. D also works as a free-lance Writer, Editor, Creative Consultant, Tutor, Alpha/Beta Reader, Proofreader and Researcher, working closely with film makers, musicians and authors to improve and promote their products.

Her first 2 book children, Braised in Wine and The Lady Doth Protest were published 2023.

D is interested in aging, feminism, the human condition, Keeping Sarcasm Alive, comedy writing and history, in both a creative and academic capacity.
