Maria Fox is a retired Police Chief Superintendent who served in three police forces - Greater Manchester, West Midlands and Derbyshire. She has extensive operational and leadership experience from all of these roles, with two large metropolitan areas and one more rural area. She spent most of her formative years in East Sussex, attending St Leonard's Mayfield school which is where her passion for sports and the outdoors really developed. Competing in a wide range of sports {football, hockey, tennis, netball, volleyball] it was always perplexing to her that she seemed to struggle to sustain a healthy weight once she hit her teen years. After leaving school and spending a year doing voluntary work in a Christian community on Merseyside, she obtained a BA Hons degree from Manchester University in Theology and Religious studies before starting her journey in public service - initially as a residential social worker before joining policing. She has enjoyed a successful career rising quickly to leadership positions. When faced with significant adversity in 2020, she was able to turn this into opportunity, not only to improve her own health and wellbeing but to support others to do the same. She is an inspirational public speaker and shares some of her material on her YouTube channel @MariaFoxWellness. Prior to retirement she chaired the National Police Chief's Council Menopause action group and qualified as a life coach, fitness professional and metabolic coach. She loves the outdoors and particularly ski ing, cycling and walking.
