Cyril Synth

Cyril Synth is a man who exists primarily in the margins of the known world. Before turning to speculative fiction, Synth reportedly spent a decade as a high-level systems analyst for a private aerospace firm that officially "never existed." It was during a three-year stint living in a decommissioned radar station in the Arctic Circle that he began to see the world not in images, but in the recurring numerical patterns that would eventually inspire his breakout novel, Countdown.

Known for his reclusive nature and his refusal to use a computer that is connected to the internet, Synth writes his manuscripts on a custom-built mechanical typewriter that he claims "cannot be hacked by the future." He is a firm believer that the line between fiction and prophecy is merely a matter of timing.

When he isn’t decoding the hidden mathematics of the universe, Cyril is an avid collector of antique astrolabes and is rumored to be building a scale model of the solar system in an underground bunker somewhere in the Alabama wilderness. He lives with a three-legged cat named Parallax and a library of books that have all been banned at least once.

Countdown is his latest attempt to warn us that the clock is ticking—whether we believe in it or not
