Roger C. Byrd

Dr. Roger C. Byrd is an Associate Professor of Social and Behavioral Science and the Director of Prison Programs at Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon, Georgia. Roger earned his doctorate in Leadership from Valdosta State University, where he wrote his dissertation on recidivism in Georgia.

His first book, “Sisyphus No More: The Case for Prison Education”, was published in 2021 by Rowman and Littlefield.

Roger recently began publishing under his personal brand of Hunger & Hardship Creek Press, where readers can find his "Historic Devotions" book (co-authored with his wife, April R. Eason) and the recently released "There is My Country: Georgians Who Followed the Sun."

Under the pen name Roger Byrd, he has also co-authored two children's books -- "Sadie's Light" and "Am I Nice Yet?" -- with friend Diane Crosby.
