Jayne Wilkinson

Jayne grew up as an identical twin on a council estate in Birmingham, the daughter of a factory worker and a housewife. Travel, for her, was the local park or a coach trip to the seaside — not driving around the world in a Land Rover.

As a twin, she jokes that she came out of the womb fed up at having to share an egg and convinced she only got half a personality. Hers was the competitive, artistic half; Jenny’s was studious and punctual. Neither had confidence or self-belief.

By thirty, widowed with two children, Jayne knew that alcohol and debt weren’t the life she wanted. She found her feet, rebuilt her life and did something quite extraordinary.
