I am a Professor of Spanish grammar, literature, and culture at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA where I have been teaching since 1994. I specialize in 19th Century Spanish realism and women writers of Spain. I have published academic articles on Benito Pérez Galdós, Emilia Pardo Bazán, María de Zayas, Caterina Albert, Ana María Matute, Federico García Lorca, Julia Alvarez, María Amparo Escandón, and others.
