While doing camera repair, I saw the home computer age as it started to bloom in about 1978. In about 1980/81 I wrote and marketed Word! a Z80 assembly language word processing program. About the time I released the program the computer for which I wrote the program, ceased marketing. Then I spent about 30 years in various areas of the computer field.

The idea for my first book, Journey Man, came from a dream I had in 1983. In the book I used the names of my nieces and nephews as names for some of the characters in the story. Later I updated the book and used great-nieces and great-nephews and granddaughters and grandsons and great-grandchildren too. Alas, some names that had junior in them could not be used. Also, ‘Chance’ could not be used either. The names for Michael and Scot I spelled backwards in the story. My son and my sister have their names in the story. Keith, my son, is Kef. Wendy is spelled Windy. Rich is Riff. Allen is used and used as Alon as well as Jay is used and used as simply ‘J’.

An abundance of publishers rejected my story and it was disheartening until I read about some of the great names in writing that got their share of rejections. Think And Grow Rich was throw in the trash can after being rejected. So it was mailed in can and all to get published. Carrie was thrown into the trash can, but his wife asked Mr. King to mail it in again and it was finally published. So, I figured that a publisher wouldn’t know a good book if it ran up to them and bit them on the ankle! I decided to publish my book myself. Self publishing companies (vanity publishers) wanted too much money and I being down to my last million (cents not dollars) decided to publish Journey Man on the computer.

Thus PC-Books was incorporated in Georgia in about 1994 to publish my book, and others as well, for a lot less than other self publishing companies wanted. PC-Books had the slogan: The Future of Publishing. In about 1998, the Innovation CD was finally released. The CD-ROM had several other authors works on it that one could read on a computer. Also, the same year, www.pc-books-inc.net was started and was either the first or one of the first digital publishing companies on the web. In about 2002 PC-Books Inc. ceasd publishing and became extinct.
