Dan DeFay

Dan DeFay is the Founder and CEO of SmartFirm IT, which services clients all over the United States. SmartFirm IT provides cyber security and technology management services for businesses, with a major focus on servicing law firms and other companies that handle very sensitive information.

Dan has over 30 years of professional experience. Prior to starting his company in 2015, he worked as a consultant for a legal technology company, worked as a network administrator in a large law firm, and served in the US Navy as a Fire Controlman, where he managed the NATO SeaSparrow surface to air missile system and all of its computer, electronics, and radar components.

Dan holds a bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems from California State University, Sacramento and several Microsoft and technology vendor certifications. Dan is a member of several cyber security and IT professional peer groups and frequently travels to conferences and seminars, staying current on industry news and trends.
