Candace Richardson

Candace Richardson is an inspiring author and advocate for preserving and promoting the Cherokee language and culture. As a Lower Eastern Cherokee descendant and a Cherokee second-language learner, she dedicates her efforts to educating children and reviving traditional practices. Living in Upstate, South Carolina, with her husband and three young boys, Candace brings a rich cultural perspective to her writing.

Candace is set to graduate from University in the summer of 2024 with a bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. Her passion for storytelling and education shines through in her series of children's books, Osiyo Little Rabbit, which includes "Tsistu's Colorful Adventure." She is eagerly anticipating the release of her second book, which will introduce young readers to the cultural game of Stickball and teach Cherokee animal names.

Candace works closely with her Nation's children's program and volunteers at her local Cherokee museum, occasionally teaching Cherokee language classes. She enjoys art, crafting, reading, and playing Dungeons and Dragons when she's not writing.

You can find her other Cherokee language resources, many of them free, at her Cherokee With Candace Teachers Pay Teachers profile.
