Merrie Spaeth is an author and story teller who has a very unusual background! She was a teenage movie star with famed actors Peter Sellers and Angela Lansbury in “The World of Henry Orient” and went on to act in television shows, The Doctors and the Nurses, The Rebellious Teenager and to write for Ghost Stories, Boris Karloff Stories for Gold Key Publishing and she even wrote a Dark Shadows story.
Merrie entered the wonderful world of children’s literature with the heart warming story of a bear, the kind of “lovey” that every child has, who is owned first by a little boy and then gets put into a box as the boy grows up. What happens next is every bear’s – and child’s – fear and hope.
Merrie brings her decades of writing experience for a wide variety of publications to create stories that inspire children to read and enlist parents, grandparents and others to read with them.
Merrie is the author of three books about communication, “MarketPlace Communication,” a compilation of her commentaries on the nightly PBS show, Marketplace, “World Matter,” a collection of her columns for the UPI Business desk, and “You Said What????” the best of her company’s monthly memo of blunders and bloopers of the month, the BIMBO Memo. (The Memo is a reminder not to repeat and deny a negative word because the listener will over look the denial and hear the opposite of what the speaker is trying to say. She named the genre for the young woman caught with a high profile but married man. She held a press conference and announced, “I am not a BIMBO!” thus convincing everyone she was!
Merrie lives in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex with her children and grandchildren and is grateful that half a century has fallen off her years as she continues to tell stories.
Meet Merrie and hear about her fascinating and inspiring life. And meet Baby Bear with your favorite child – for a life-long bonding experience.
