Mary Shirley is a New Zealand-qualified lawyer with 18 years of ethics and compliance experience that includes working for data privacy and antitrust regulators, in-house and private practice/consultancy across five countries and four regions of the world.
Mary co-founded the multi award winning Great Women in Compliance Podcast, with a view to creating a platform for the outstanding achievements of women in the field and sharing accessible ideas in a scalable manner, as well as provide learning opportunities for everyone in compliance. She is regularly invited to conferences and corporate company events as a keynote speaker discussing fostering cultures of integrity, best practices for Ethics and Compliance programs, and putting your best foot forward as a Compliance practitioner. She also sits on advisory boards and conference planning committees, helping organizations advance their initiatives and improve their products.
She co-authored the multi award winning book, “Sending the Elevator Back Down: What We’ve Learned from Great Women in Compliance” (CCI Press, 2020) and has a second book highlighting trail blazing and innovative ideas to level up Compliance programs, called Living Your Best Compliance Practitioner Life: 65 Hacks & Cheat Codes to Level Up Your Compliance Program, coming out in 2023.
She has been bestowed the honors of being named a Compliance Week Top Mind 2019, Trust Across America 2020 Top Thought Leader in Trust and Excellence in Compliance Awards 2022 Mentor of the Year.
