Cynthia Cliff is a self-taught artist and author grew up in a tiny historic village in rural Virginia where her ancestors had lived for many generations. She was surrounded by her large extended and superstitious family, and farms and woodlands where she spent every waking hour—all of which provided her with a love of history, family, nature, and folklore—themes that find their way into much of her whimsical, folk-art inspired work. Cynthia began her illustration career in 2019 after living many other lives and is now the author and illustrator of several children’s books. She resides in northern Virginia just outside of Washington, D.C. with her partner and four-legged family.
