I've loved books for as long as I can remember. My first fav was The Berenstain Bears. Then I moved on to Encyclopedia Brown.

As a 2nd grader I actually purchased To be a Slave! It sparked my interest in reading slave narratives ever since. I always read my children's Bible Story Book growing up. When I hit high school and & college & was knee deep in literature class, I wanted my work to be featured in textbooks.

I wanted students to be assigned homework that was based on something that I had written. I wanted them to dive deep into a poem I wrote from a time that I was in a dark place. I wanted them to read a short story I had written late one night when I couldn't sleep. I had to get the thoughts onto paper and out of my mind. I wanted to take people on journeys, make them feel, process emotions, enjoy & overcome everytime they read my work.

My name is Catherine Harris. I was born in Jackson MS to Steven & Edna Harris. My mom always read to me. She made sure I had paper, pencils & art supplies. My dad & I enjoyed listening to classical music and letting our imagination run wild. We would always dream big. Here I am & there's so much more to come!
