Grace Kao is Professor of Ethics, the inaugural Sano Chair of Pacific and Asian American Theology, and a founding co-director of the Center for Sexuality, Gender, and Religion at Claremont School of Theology.
She is the author or co-editor of 4 books and recipient of 5 teaching awards. Her latest book, My Body, Their Baby: A Progressive Christian Vision for Surrogacy, won an Illumination Book Award (silver medal in theology) and was named a CHOICE Outstanding Academic Title.
She is a New York-born, California-raised daughter of Taiwanese immigrants with degrees from Stanford University (BA/MA) and Harvard University (PhD). She now lives in Orange County, California with her husband, two sons, and pandemic cat.
