Yolanda Rush Curry

Yolanda Rush Curry is a former television producer and Emmy award-winning writer with more than fifteen years of experience. She is also happily married and the mother of three children. She has a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master’s degree in school counseling from Lindenwood University.

After years as a writer/producer, Yolanda felt compelled to make a bigger impact on the youth in her community and decided to pursue a career in counseling. She is a school counselor at St. Charles West High School, where she currently oversees the Men of Color Attaining Success (MOCAS) program and the Multicultural Achievement Council which provides scholarships and encourages students of color to become college and career ready.

Yolanda is passionate about helping youth fulfill their potential and created the Teddy Gazette series with the hope of encouraging young children of color to become excited about learning.

Yolanda has received several recognitions for her work with youth, including Teacher of the Year as well as Southeast Missouri State & St. Louis American School Counselor of the Year. In addition, she was selected to be featured in a career profile on school counseling in the Life-Span Development and Child Development textbooks published by McGraw Hill (2023).
