Ziggy Quinete

Ziggy Quinete is a writer, journalist, and founder of Gargoyle Collective, a creative consortium dedicated to producing books inspired by history, art, mythology, and the great literary movements of the past century.

He is the creator of the acclaimed series Mythology and Folklore: The Mythical Creatures Collection, an ambitious exploration of legendary beasts, spirits, and primordial forces drawn from the world’s oldest traditions. He is also the author of the expansive Encyclopedia of Gods and Deities, a multi-volume work that examines ancient religions and the divine figures that shaped civilizations, belief systems, and social order across cultures.

Ziggy’s work extends beyond mythology into cultural and literary analysis. He authored Imagined History and Digital Futures, a thought-provoking exploration of the defining literary movements of the twentieth century—Steampunk, Cyberpunk, and Dieselpunk—examining their origins, aesthetics, and continued relevance in a rapidly evolving technological world.

In collaboration with author Mayumi Nakagaki, Ziggy has co-created several acclaimed titles, including Tokyo Ink: The Art and Meaning of Irezumi, an in-depth encyclopedia of traditional Japanese tattooing, and Hana Kotoba: The Secret Language of Flowers, a lyrical study of floral symbolism. Together, they have also published Flying Creatures: The Secret Meaning of Birds and two richly illustrated historical volumes, The History of the Samurai and Ninjas Unveiled, exploring the warriors who shaped Japan’s cultural identity.

Holding a degree in French Literature from the Sorbonne and postgraduate studies in Political Science, Ziggy brings an interdisciplinary perspective to his writing. His work invites readers to look beyond the surface, uncovering the hidden structures of myth, art, and history, while encouraging deeper reflection on culture, creativity, and the human experience.
