Matthew Blasi

Matthew Blasi was born in Manhattan, raised in Florida, and spent a decade in Philadelphia before moving to Louisiana to complete his Ph.D. at Louisiana State University. Along the way, he spent ten years as the frontman for a heavy metal band, and worked as construction worker, a bartender, and a dog trainer before returning to school.

A two-time Pushcart nominee, Matthew has been publishing short fiction and creative nonfiction since 2006. He also publishes literary criticism and scholarship in peer-reviewed journals. Sweet Muffin Ranch is his first novel. Matthew lives and teaches in Shreveport, Louisiana and is working on a new novel, several new academic articles, a tabletop roleplaying game, and a EP of original rock music.
