Warren Brown is an entrepreneur at heart with an unconventional career path that embodies what it means to pursue one’s passion. He is the owner of Countertop Productions, Inc. a boutique wholesale bakery manufacturer of innovative packaged snacks including the brands Don’t Forget Cake—indulgent cake jars—and Spark Bites—energy snacks designed to improve gut health.
But well before baking and business, Warren was a reproductive health educator. He worked for community health clinics on both ends of the country in the mid 1990s, first in Providence, Rhode Island and then in San Fernando, California. His passion to fairly present important information to correct misinformation was sealed by the appreciation shown by the teachers and students he encountered.
After graduating from law school, Warren worked as a federal litigator for the Department of Health and Human Services. But within four years he opened his first retail business, CakeLove, a bakery that specialized in cakes and cupcakes that he operated in DC on U St from 2002 to 2016.
Brown’s experience transitioning from lawyer to baker generated national media attention. He was featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Today Show, People magazine, National Public Radio. He also hosted two seasons of Sugar Rush on the Food Network from 2005-2007.
He wrote four cookbooks where he shares his baking secrets: CakeLove, United Cakes of America, CakeLove in the Morning and Pie Love.
Brown added another angle to his background with the upcoming release of his debut novel, a self-published, psychological thriller: Men Are Doomed.
Brown graduated from Brown University in 1993 with a BA in History and the George Washington University in 1998 with a Juris Doctor and Masters in Public Health.
He lives in Maryland with his wife and two daughters.
