My name is Anthony Bakke and I am the author of the "Bakke's Shakespeare" series of book translations. The first three books in the series are "Romeo and Juliet," "Macbeth," and "A Midsummer Night's Dream." These are the first in a new series of modern translations designed for middle and high school students and anyone else who would like to experience Shakespeare in a new and engaging way. "Romeo and Juliet" and "Macbeth" were winners of both the Midwest Book Award for Education/Learning as well as the "Best Indie Book Award" (BIBA) for Academics and Teaching and Classic Literature. Other than writing, I have been teaching high school English since 2004 at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School in Plymouth, MN (which also happens to be my alma mater: class of '99). I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Communication Arts and Literature from St. Cloud State University and my Master's Degree in Education and Professional Development from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Outside of teaching, I also coach baseball at Armstrong. The rest of my days are filled being a husband to my wonderful wife, Kirsten and a doting father to my amazing daughter, MacKenna.
